With the recent release of Icecrown Citadel, veterans and new players alike may be wondering what’s to come after fighting contrary to the Lich King. With each expansion pack’s release the amount cap has increased. With the first two expansions the amount cap went up 10 levels. This time around the developers have only raised the amount cap by 5. This is a convenient thing for players who want to level multiple characters in the expansion.

New playable backgrounds. That’s right, two new playable backgrounds are increasingly being added to the game. The Alliance will be seeing the werewolf-life worgen race and the Horde will be gaining goblins. Each race will have their own racial abilities and specific class options. Look forward to seeing many players either race change, or create new characters to start off the expansion packages debut. Along with these new playable character classes, there will also be new classic mixtures. Previous backgrounds will be gaining new class availability, such as Blood Elf Enthusiast for example. There are a lot of exciting things to look out for with the release of this expansion.

Cataclysm will be adding more end-game content for players to enjoy. The expansion has never even been released and claims to have more raid content than previously. Players will be able to explore freshly opened specific zones such as Uldum, Grim Batol, and the Sunken City of Vashj’ir which is loacated under the sea. Along with the PvE content, PvP content will be seeing quite a nice change. With new battlegrounds and a new rated battleground system, the PvP side of the game should be a refreshing change. Along with these new changes is a new Wintergrasp-like area. Factions will compete against each other on the freshly created Tol Barad Island, engaging against each other in daily missions.

Not only will new areas be around to explore, but the classic specific zones are increasingly being completely redone. This means that players who have enjoyed this game since it’s release will have grounds to start all over and experience different things. The terrains will be completely redone with new content being added. Unlike with most expansions where new areas are only added, this expansion plans to change the entire games landscape and give players a whole new world to explore. One exciting feature that comes along with this renovation is that players will finally be allowed to use those flying supports over Azeroth. It may be quite a different feel being able to see the continents of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms from above.

With all these exciting new features to look forward to, there’s no reason not to plan on picking up this upcoming expansion. Old and new players alike will be able to explore new content regardless of level. Unfortunately, no specific release date has been posted for Cataclysm. Blizzard has recently starting accepting pre-orders for the expansion and a 2010 release should be expected.
